Whether or not it's been discovered yet, there surely is a mechanism at work, whether genetic or hormonal, that accords people their sexual orientations. Sooner or later, science will probably determine what that factor, or combination of factors is, and identify it for everyone.
In the meantime, though, there's no help forthcoming for the hateful bigots who so fervently and irrationally wish that there were no such factor(s), so they could keep on whining that homosexuals "choose" their "lifestyles."
Gosh only knows how any person could possibly be so abjectly ignorant as to be busybodyish and control-freakish enough to care one whit about how any people, gay or straight, happen to have sex in private, and with whom, as long as their partners are of legal age. After all, the ONLY significant difference between gays and straights is the TRIVIALITY of the sex partners they happen to have. And all people have sex in private -- so none of that is the least bit anyone else's business. It takes a LOT of ignorance to be concerned over such insignificant matters!
Similarly, it would be interesting to know why those benighted, homophobic bigots are so desperate to deny EQUAL rights to people who happen to be homosexual. Lyingly seeking passage of so-called "defense of marriage acts," for example -- even though same-sex marriage is as harmless as a kitten sleeping in front of a fireplace. The irrationality of homophobes is rampant and totally inexplicable.
All of that having been said, the PROOF that people are BORN with their the sexual orientations is that 300 million Americans have not awakened one morning and said to themselves, "Gee! I think I'll be start today to be attracted to the OTHER gender, from now on, from the gender I have been attracted to up until now."
That's PROOF, 300,000,000 times over! With that much proof, it makes no difference whether or not science ever discovers the actual factors that cause people to be born with their sexual orientations.
Because at the rate progress in that direction is being made by medical science, by the time those factors ARE discovered, homophobes will probably be as hard to find as Segegationists are now, and NO one will give a hoot.
